Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 30, 2026
Snap2Meal (“we”, “the app”) helps you cook meals from the ingredients you have. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your choices. We aim to collect as little as possible.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive your email address and (if provided) your name. Sign in with Apple may relay a private email.
- Content you create. Ingredient photos you scan or upload, your pantry list, saved recipes, dietary preferences, and allergies.
- Usage data. Counts of scans and recipe generations (to enforce plan limits) and basic diagnostics.
- Purchases. Subscription status is managed by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your card or payment details.
How we use it
- To identify ingredients in your photos and generate recipes and recipe images.
- To save and sync your pantry, preferences, and saved recipes across your devices.
- To enforce free and paid plan limits and to operate and improve the app.
How photos and AI work
Ingredient photos and prompts are processed by Google’s Gemini models via our secure backend to identify food and create recipes and images. Photos you scan are stored in your private account folder so you can review your history.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run the app: Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, functions), Google Gemini (AI), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Apple (sign-in and payments). These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers above as needed to run the app, or when required by law.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Delete account inside the app, or by emailing us. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Children
Snap2Meal is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable data-protection laws (including South Africa’s POPIA and the GDPR where relevant) to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your data, and to lodge a complaint with your local regulator. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Data controller & contact
The data controller for Snap2Meal is Snap2Meal LTD (registered business address available on request). Questions about this policy or requests about your data? Email support@snap2meal.com.
